If required from the device you have to authorize the program to open connection your Host.
3. The third page Shows the connection in progress …
The number of visible rows and columns depend on selected font and the video resolution of your mobile device.
And after few seconds you obtain the usual signo-on screen.
Done!
Tips.
Normally when the user press a key of the keyboard the T400 software send the character to the host, this is called the “direct input mode” (you type direct into your screen)
with exception of the “special” character # that is transformed in “TAB+” and “special” character @ that is transformed in “Field+”
With the Action Button is also possible simulate some frequently used Function and open the “Input” and the "Macro" window. Is possible to raise an “input window” that is useful also for device without physical keyboard and particular input key (function/system key).
To enforce security I suggest to adopt at least the following rules:
Don’t publish directly AS400 in the web but use a intermediate proxy server (I suggest stunnel or a free proxy on TCP port 23)
Never accept anonymous QPADEVxxxxx device (set to 0 the system variables QAUTOCFG QAUTORMT QAUTOVRT). This simple action add a 10 character additional “virtual password”.
Each external device activities should be daily verified.
Use SSL connection to avoid clear data transfer. To achieve this goal I suggest the open source: http://www.stunnel.org/ and the use of SSL option in the 2st page of T400
Use non standard ports (different from telnet 23) to avoid simple port scan identification
VPN and other internal connection system (BES) can realize better security …
